Vickery is a renowned freelance journalist who has lived in Brazil since 1994. He is perhaps most known for his work with BBC Sport over the years.
He appeared on Sky Sports on Tuesday to offer his take on Saracchi and how moving to Celtic could finally ‘unlock’ the 27-year-old’s potential.
Vickery said: “He’s a stocky little left back – very, very quick. When he first came through, I had immense hopes for this player, real hopes. I thought he was the future of Uruguay at left back.
“I thought he was on for a brilliant career, and so far it’s proved a little bit of a disappointment.
“He’s been through Germany without doing a great deal, Turkey a little bit more, a little bit in Spain and back to Argentina – he’s bounced around. What he perhaps needs in his career is a bit of stability.
“But as an attacking left-back, there’s plenty Celtic can get out of him, especially because he’s in a league where Celtic will be on the front foot for the vast majority of the time.
“So hopefully this can be the move where Saracchi finally unlocks that potential I saw a few years ago but hasn’t really come out so far.”

It won’t be too long before Celtic fans see their club officially announce Saracchi, of course if the medical goes well.
Saracchi is currently en route to London for that medical with footage of him appearing on social media platform X.
He can be seen taking selfies with fans before his long flight north to the UK, just hours ahead of Celtic playing Kairat Almaty in the Champions League.
The Bhoys must beat the Kazakhstan side in Almaty to reach the league phase of the Champions League for the second year in succession.
