There is a fear that Celtic’s domestic double triumph last season has allowed the board to continue working at a snail’s pace.
On Friday, the non-World Cup Celtic players will report for pre-season, with Martin O’Neill at the helm, but, as of this moment, not his backroom staff, led by Shaun Maloney.
Celtic fans would have hoped that Marcelo Saracchi, who wasn’t picked by Marcelo Bielsa for Uruguay’s 2026 World Cup squad, would be part of the returning party, but it’s not to be the case.
Even though there is the suggestion that Celtic want to re-sign Saracchi, his agent, Marcelo Tejera, has told CeltsAreHere that Michael Nicholson hasn’t even contacted him.
“The first thing that needs to happen is for the club’s CEO to tell me of their interest in the player,” said Tejera. “And that never happened.”
Would you take Marcelo Saracchi at Celtic permanently?

Michael Nicholson and the Celtic board, it’s happening again…
If history repeats itself, then Celtic Park won’t be a pleasant place next season because the protests will just get louder and louder.
When you look at someone like Saracchi, you already had him on loan last season, and everyone saw the positive impact he made.
Kieran Tierney needs someone to compete with, and the Uruguayan seems like the perfect choice.
But the fact that Celtic and Nicholson haven’t even contacted Saracchi’s agent is rather worrying because you would assume this deal is one of the easier ones to do.
It has even been suggested that Saracchi is training alone at Boca Juniors, so it’s not like the Argentine giants are pushing against the left-back leaving.
If Celtic are taking their time with a deal such as this, then you really worry about what is around the corner this summer.
Either way, it just further exposes why Celtic fans protest against the board, and why there are calls from fans for figures like Nicholson to be booted out of the club.
