Questions emerge over Anderlecht interest in Celtic target Tawanda Maswanhise

Celtic target Tawanda Maswanhise is rumoured to be of interest to Belgian giants Anderlecht on transfer deadline day.

Anderlecht reportedly want the Celtic target with Motherwell said to be looking for a fee in the region of £2.5m.

However, Motherwell’s stance on Maswanhise became clear after journalist Graeme McGarry said his ‘understanding’ is that the Zimbabwean is simply ‘not for sale’.

Is Tawanda Maswanhise Celtic quality?

But the transfer link just doesn’t make sense after Anderlecht made a big managerial change almost 24 hours before their interest in Celtic-linked Maswanhise became public knowledge.

Anderlecht sack manager Besnik Hasi before reported interest in Celtic target Maswanhise

Anderlecht announced that they had parted ways with head coach Besnik Hasi yesterday evening.

In a statement on X, the Belgian club said, “RSC Anderlecht bids farewell to Besnik Hasi.

“The club would like to thank Besnik for his commitment and dedication.”

Anderlecht are struggling in the Belgian A league, sitting in fourth place 13 points behind Union Saint-Gilloise.

So now that it’s known that the Belgian side sacked their manager 15 hours before the Maswanhise rumour broke, can there be any credence added to the rumour Anderlecht really want the Motherwell winger?

The current state of play in Celtic’s pursuit of Junior Adama

Celtic are on the brink of their first deadline day signing after Junior Adamu ‘verbally agreed’ to join the Scottish champions.

However, it appears that negotiations between Celtic and SC Freiburg about an option to buy clause could be holding up the deal.

Sky Sports News broke the news below.

As yet, there is no official announcement from Celtic but, hopefully, that won’t be too far away now.
