Shin Yamada is set to become Celtic’s seventh summer signing.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the Japanese striker will complete his medical in the coming days and become the Parkhead club’s second striking addition.
Yamada’s departure from Kawasaki Frontale was announced yesterday after weeks of speculation surrounding the J League striker and Celtic.
Since news first broke that Celtic were interested in Yamada on the 22nd of June, it appears the Parkhead club moved swiftly to seal the deal for the 25-year-old striker.

Shin Yamada’s Celtic deal was agreed at the beginning of July
Yamada said his farewells to the Frontale fans yesterday and in doing so, revealed when the deal to join Celtic was agreed upon.
Yamada told Japanese outlet Targama, “When I played against Kashima Antlers (on July 6), it had already been decided.
“Yes (I was emotional), Taiki (Yamada) was there too, and players came to see me too. It had already been decided at that time.
“I feel like I’ve become more emotional! I definitely feel like I cry more easily.
“Today was a game, however, so I had mixed emotions. I was a bit embarrassed to be speaking in front of everyone there, so the tears didn’t come.”
What’s been said about Shin Yamada by Celtic fans
Celtic fans appear to be unconvinced about the signing of Yamada. With just four goals in 20 games last season, he doesn’t exactly scream Champions League level.
Many Celtic fans are confused at the club’s transfer policy as they seem to be replacing an international striker in Kyogo with a relatively unknown quantity.
Only time will tell if Yamada is up to the task but one thing is for sure, Celtic fans will back him all the way to help him become a success at the club.
