Celtic transfer target Jakob Breum has suffered a setback.
The Hoops are in the market for a winger, possibly two, as Brendan Rodgers seeks to improve the quality in his attacking department.
Jota is injured for the long term and Celtic sold Nicolas Kuhn in July to Como, so the Hoops are light in the wide areas of the pitch.
Yang Hyun-jun was poor against St Mirren, and it desperately highlighted the need for Celtic’s board to release the funds necessary for Rodgers to get his targets in.
Breum is one of those targets, with Celtic seeing multiple bids rejected by Go Ahead Eagles for the Danish star.
The Eagles want £5m for Breum at least, so it’s up to Celtic whether they think that price is justifiable for the 21-year-old or not.

Celtic target Breum picks up ankle injury
Meanwhile, Breum has picked up an injury that will see him miss Go Ahead Eagles’ first Eredivise game of the season against Fortuna Sittard on Friday night.
De Stentor report that Breum suffered a knock to his ankle, but his manager Melvin Boel is positive that the winger will be fit again next week.
The Dutch outlet reported: “Jakob Breum is injured and will miss Go Ahead Eagles’ match against Fortuna Sittard. The Danish midfielder suffered a knock to his ankle against PSV and is still struggling.
“Manager Melvin Boel indicates that Friday evening’s match is still too soon, but he is hopeful Breum will be back next week.”
The Eagles played their first competitive game of the season on Sunday as they lost 2-1 to PSV for a chance to win the Johan Cruyff Shield.
Breum played the full 94 minutes, but will now miss the Fortuna Sittard game amid Celtic’s strong interest.
Andy Halliday stunned by speed of Celtic’s transfer business
Celtic have been linked with Breum for weeks now, and the same can be said for Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
This week, Motherwell midfielder Andy Halliday expressed his surprise at how slow transfer activity at Parkhead has been.
Celtic have signed seven senior players, but there are still glaring gaps in the squad, plus only £4m roughly has been spent so far.
Halliday said: “The boy that they have been linked, the boy from Go Ahead Eagles, Jakob Breum. I feel like they have been linked with him for ages, so why isn’t that over the line?
“Why hasn’t that been done? The rest has been slow.”
