Daniel Kelly also left for Millwall and prior to that the most high-profile exit was Ben Doak’s Celtic departure to Liverpool.

And now, Hoops supporters are waking up to the news that another Celtic Academy graduate has now made his Parkhead exit for the English sixth tier.

Joey Dawson ‘buzzing’ to leave Celtic and join Scunthorpe United

Young Joey Dawson has left Celtic to join Scunthorpe United this summer. The talented Hoops striker has finally recovered from an ACL injury and has now left the club to kick-start his career back at Scunthorpe United.

Dawson told Scunthorpe United’s official website, “I’m buzzing to be back, this is my home and it’s where I grew up so to finally be back is just an amazing feeling.

“I can only say good things about my time at Celtic. I feel like I’ve come back a better player, bigger and stronger so I’m just looking forward to hitting the ground running.”

Joey Dawson will always remember the ‘incredible’ Celtic fans

Dawson made one Celtic appearance under Ange Postecoglou in the 3-1 away win at St Johnstone.

However, it’s what the Celtic fans did that left the young striker with a burning memory he will never forget.

“I had some incredible experiences up there,” continued Dawson, “Making my debut up there and experiencing Champions League nights and European nights was incredible.

“The atmosphere is something I will always remember. But like I say, chapters end and I am looking forward to starting a new one here at my hometown club.”

Celtic signed Dawson from Scunthorpe in 2021 and despite his undoubted talent, he just couldn’t make the step up to the Hoops first-team.

67 Hail Hail wishes the young man the very best of luck in the next step of his career away from Celtic.
