What Celtic have done with ‘two or three’ signings Wilfried Nancy and Paul Tisdale identified

Celtic’s recruitment has come under some serious scrutiny, especially since the arrival of Paul Tisdale.

The so-called ‘football doctor’ was barely heard of since Tisdale arrived at Celtic way back in October 2024.

Since then, Celtic’s recruitment has been nothing short of disastrous with the vast majority of signings failing to make any impact at the club.

And now that Celtic have shown Tisdale the door, it seems that there were at least two signings already in the ‘pipeline’ that the club have now taken action on.

Roger Hannah says ‘two or three’ Celtic signings are ‘no longer in the pipeline’

It appears that Celtic were looking to add at least three players in the January transfer window as Tisdale looked to add more bodies to Nancy’s Hoops squad.

But since the departure of both, it looks like those have been binned, according to journalist Roger Hannah.

Hannah told Go Ballistic, “Poor Julian Araujo, in from Bournemouth on Friday, a few minutes off the bench at Celtic Park on Saturday and the manager sacked on the Monday.

“But he’s only on loan. He will go back to Bournemouth at some stage. And my understanding is there’s been talk of two or three others in the pipeline, I think one of the Columbus crew players was that game at the weekend, he might have been there to see his pal, I don’t know.

“But I think there were moves in the pipeline which are now no longer in the pipeline. I think they will feel they had to act today.

“Because if you don’t act today then you probably need to see those transfers through and I don’t think they want to see Nancy/Tisdale transfers through.”

The events leading to Celtic axing Paul Tisdale

Tisdale’s time at Celtic was fraught with controversy as the club spent millions of pounds under his tenure buying players who have looked simply not good enough.

His signing policy over the last 18 months has come back to bite Celtic as the state of the squad is the poorest it has been since the turn of the century.

Even Celtic hero Chris Sutton called out Tisdale live on Sky Sports as the Bhoys stuttered from one defeat to the next under Nancy.

At least Celtic have done the right thing and they have stopped any further players he has identified from coming to the club because who knows what dross the club may have been saddled with this month
