Celtic want a new striker this summer, that is for certain.

Brendan Rodgers told fans after losing the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen that he knows exactly what is needed to strengthen his squad in the summer.

The Hoops sold Kyogo in January and did not replace him. Instead, they shifted Daizen Maeda to a central striker role with Adam Idah also contributing when called upon.

But with doubts over Idah’s quality, Maeda’s links with Fenerbahce and the injury to left winger Jota, Celtic need to beef up their attacking options.

One name mentioned is Youssef El Kachati of Telstar. Celtic have reportedly scouted the 25-year-old Moroccan hitman who has scored 24 goals in 44 games this season.

Now, El Kachati has directly addressed his future to Dutch media after his team’s Eredivisie promotion play-off first leg draw with Willem II.

Celtic target El Kachati ‘certain’ he will leave Telstar

El Kachati scored in the 2-2 thriller on Thursday evening and was quoted after the game confirming that he will leave Telstar for pastures new – whether that will be Celtic or not remains to be seen.

As quoted in NU.nl, El Kachati said: “I think it is 100 percent certain that I will make a fantastic step this summer. But first I want to leave something behind at Telstar that will make them never forget me.

“I think it is very important that I end my time here well. If I can shoot Telstar to the Eredivisie, then I will do that.”

Strikers Celtic have been linked with

We’re approaching transfer silly season with rumours over reported targets set to ramp up over the next few weeks.

The transfer window opens for Celtic on June 1 and they will be looking to bolster their forward line, potentially with El Kachati’s signature.

The Hoops have also been linked with Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden for what seems like an eternity now.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt and West Ham United are said to be in the hunt for the Danish star too, so Celtic could be priced out.

David Strelec is another Celtic have tried to sign, most notably in January when a £7.9m bid was rejected by Slovan Bratislava. Will the Bhoys go back in this summer?
