There isn’t anyone better to lead Celtic right now than Callum McGregor.
Amid the chaos of this season for Celtic, you just wonder where the club would be without their skipper, because everything isn’t rosy.
That was proven on Friday when Celtic’s AGM was cancelled by Peter Lawwell, as the board members took offence at being criticised over their abject work.
Thankfully, another chaotic week in Glasgow is rounded off by Celtic beating St Mirren, right at the death, thanks to a wonderstrike from McGregor, and he had a message for all.

Callum McGregor’s message to Celtic fans and the board after AGM fiasco
At the end of the day, McGregor can only do his job on the field, and if that happens, at least it brings some sort of calmness to proceedings, or else, it would be far worse.
As Celtic search for a new manager, and the fiasco of the AGM, McGregor has told all to be ‘united’, as the club is ‘built on massive success and unity’, as he told Sky Sports.
Poll: Do you have faith in the Celtic board?
Sky reporter: “As the captain of the club. It has been a difficult week. There has been the AGM. Still haven’t got a permanent manager as well. The previous manager resigned.
“How is it for you, as the captain, to make sure everyone was together. Made sure at the end there, there is togetherness.”
McGregor: “Yeah, yeah. The club needs to be united. It needs to be everyone together. Pushing forward. It has been built on massive success and unity.
“The quicker we can put this behind us. Like you say, we get a permanent manager. Things start to go. We keep winning football matches.
“Hopefully, that will realign everyone and get us to the place that we want to be, which is success at this club.”
McGregor on his winning goal as Celtic beat St Mirren
Another late show from Celtic. Another strike from distance from the skipper. McGregor is at it again.
Those three points also close the gap to Premiership leaders Hearts to four points ahead of their clash against Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon, as McGregor shared what he was thinking as he let fly in Paisley.
“We just keep going, keep going,” said McGregor on Celtic’s late win in Paisley. “St Mirren will make it difficult for you.
“They had really good spells in the game. They make you defend. You just have to keep going. The game at Celtic Park as well, we had to go until late on. We spoke about that being a factor in the game.
“The boys are working so hard, I am so glad that we got the reward that we wanted, it’s on the back of an international. It’s a really crucial period for the club as well. I am glad that we fought until the end and got three points.
“You know the sort of time. You have got an eye on it. But it just breaks. You try and get a touch, and strike it. I kind of knew when Colby got it that I was a little bit free. Similar to the Rangers goal. You have a strike, and it goes in.
A tap-in by McGregor’s standards: “I know. I know. I have made a habit of it in the last couple of years, so long may it continue.”
