Celtic have learned their fate ahead of next week’s clash in the Champions League vs Bayern Munich.

The Hoops had been anxiously awaiting UEFA’s decision regarding a potential stadium ban for away fans as they prepare for the second-leg of their tie against the Bundesliga giants.

Pyro had been used by punters away at Aston Villa following a previous €20,000 fine.

That fine at the time against Borussia Dortmund also came with an away fan threat in the guise of a suspended match ban from selling tickets to the club’s next European away match should the offence be repeated within the next two years.

Celtic learn UEFA punishment after Aston Villa pyro

That had triggered worries among the support as well as within the club as it could impact the coffers as well as the atmosphere as Brendan Rodgers‘ side attempts to get through the glamour knockout playoff tie.

Now, though UEFA have confirmed Celtic’s punishment.

A statement from the governing body read: “The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has taken the following decision.

“Match: Aston Villa FC vs. Celtic FC (4:2), 29.01.2025, UEFA Champions League 2024/2025.

“Charges against Celtic FC:

“Decision: The CEDB has decided: To fine Celtic FC €10,000 for throwing of fireworks.”

Celtic fans won’t be banned from Bayern Munich tie

The decision will come as a significant relief to the Scottish Premiership giants who will be permitted to have punters travel over to Germany and take in the action.

There had been calls from one pundit to punish only those involved in the pyro incidents as Ewen Cameron branded it “bang out of order” that all fans would potentially have been sanctioned.

Thankfully there are now no roadblocks preventing fans from making as much noise as possible at the Allianz Arena when their side face off against Vincent Kompany’s Bayern.

The Belgian is expecting a “hot” powderkeg clash in the competition.
