Martin O’Neill is hoping to keep Celtic’s winning train going against Falkirk on Wednesday night.

After Celtic beat Dundee United over the weekend, on O’Neill’s second return to the dugout, he resorted to type, including partnering Auston Trusty alongside Liam Scales at the heart of defence.

Some were concerned that Trusty picked up an injury in that game, and he could join Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnston and Marcelo Saracchi in the treatment room.

There were even some suggestions that Celtic recalled Stephen Welsh from his Motherwell loan spell because of Trusty possibly being injured, but footage from training states otherwise.

Auston Trusty trains with Celtic amid injury scare

Sky Sports had their cameras at Lennoxtown on Tuesday morning, with training looking busy and lively as usual.

Around 30 seconds into the footage posted by Sky Sports, Trusty could be seen adjusting his socks and in his usual Celtic gear.

It’s a boost for Celtic because it means O’Neill has one less headache to deal with, as the backline has already been decimated with injuries this season.

Peter Schmeichel watches Celtic training at Lennoxtown

Kasper Schmeichel has come under serious fire this season, and many have questioned whether he deserves to be Celtic’s number one.

It even resulted in Celtic fans booing Schmeichel against Rangers, in what turned out to be Wilfried Nancy’s final game in charge.

Thankfully, Schmeichel was back to his best against Dundee United, and now his dad, a Treble-winner with Manchester United in 1990, was spotted at Lennoxtown watching on from the sidelines.

Peter Schmeichel works as a pundit for CBS, who cover Champions League football, and when Celtic were in Europe’s elite competition last season, Kasper’s dad was cheering on with his mic in hand.

It would be interesting to know what Peter thinks of his son’s performances this season because if he continues in his error-prone ways, then O’Neill will have a big call to make.
