Celtic and Rangers are going to go at it again for the umpteenth time for the 2025/26 season.

For a long time now, Celtic have been eating the trophies for fun, and many expect the same to happen when the new campaign kicks off against St Mirren on August 3.

Brendan Rodgers has won four trophies since returning to Glasgow, including missing out on the Treble by the skin of his teeth after losing the Scottish Cup final to Aberdeen last month.

In the meantime, it’s all change at Rangers, including a new manager in the dugout, and added investment from the boardroom in the shape of the 49ers Enterprise.

Russell Martin enters the scene after Celtic won the title by 17 points last season, and that’s despite losing two Glasgow derby games.

But Alan Brazil wants a slight change that might prove to be unpopular.

What Celtic-mad Alan Brazil wants from Rangers

As many who tune into talkSPORT, you will notice that Brazil champions Celtic time and time again after growing up supporting the club.

Brazil played for the likes of Manchester United and Ipswich Town during his career, but never got to wear the green and white colours.

Whilst the former striker wants Celtic to win the title every time, he admitted that he wants a ‘stronger’ Rangers, even if he is in a ‘minority’.

“It’s a funny one,” said Brazil. “I might be in a minority, but I want a strong Rangers. I do.

“Obviously, I want Celtic to win it. But I want a strong Rangers to make it really exciting. Whereas, a lot of Celtic fans are like, ‘nah, keep them down. Get them relegated’.”

Will the Glasgow derby return to the old days?

One of the positives to come out of last season, and something fans from both sides of the divide will agree with, is the return of supporters.

That happened for the final two derby games of last season, and hopefully, that will continue for the foreseeable future, even if a small number of fans are allowed into Ibrox and Parkhead.

But Brazil was reminiscing about his childhood, and how he would prefer the old days of when the away end used to be packed with 8,000 supporters.

“Deep down, you need the fans back,” said Dean Saunders.

Brazil responded: “Oh, I think we have got them back. We had some, I think it was one of the games that they had them back.

“The problem was, when I used to watch as a boy, it was 50-50 and it was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.”
