In a dramatic day for the Celtic fans yesterday, the club seem to have gone all out in their bid to have Brendan Rodgers replace Ange Postecoglou.

But a report in the Daily Record says there could be a fresh bid to hijack the deal from English side Leeds United.

As discussed on 67 Hail Hail last night, the club believe that Rodgers will accept the position after a positive round of talks concluded yesterday. Rodgers is said to be discussing the move with his wife and family before a formal decision is made.

The report says that Celtic are optimistic that Rodgers will return to Glasgow before the end of the week to sign off on a deal that has already been agreed in principle between both parties.

However, recently demoted from the English Premier League, the Elland Road club believe that they can tempt Rodgers by selling them their vision of reviving the club’s fortunes by investing a sizable sum of money in a significant squad reconstruction.

Now, the executive team at 49ers Enterprises is keen to see if they can persuade Rodgers to take on the challenge of getting them back into the English Premier League.

After rebuffing an approach from Crystal Palace, Rodgers is believed to have no interest in taking on a position where he is expected to keep a mid-table club in the English Premier League. So it would be fair to assume that managing in the second tier of England would be of no interest to him.

Celtic are still speaking to other candidates. They have held talks with Francesco Farioli and are said to be looking to speak to Enzo Maresca although the Manchester City assistant is said to want to remain in English football.

The next few days will be pivotal in concluding the search for a new manager but all the signs are pointing towards Rodgers being the man to succeed Ange Postecoglou.
