The search for the next Celtic manager has taken a huge leap forward this morning. With Brendan Rodgers reportedly due to meet Dermot Desmond, it does seem as though the club have one man in their sights to take over from Ange Postecoglou.
However, there have been other candidates’ names in the frame. Francesco Farioli and Kjetil Knutsen continue to be linked to the club with Farioli already said to have held talks with Celtic.
Enzo Maresca is another name that has been discussed in the media. Reports last week suggested that he was due to meet Celtic for talks.

Yesterday’s revelation that the Italian has spoken to Leicester City about their vacant managerial position may have thrown a spanner in the works.
A report by The Daily Mail has said that Maresca will discuss his future with Manchester City this week.
According to the report, after his talks with Leicester, the 43-year-old has expressed that it would be his preference to continue working in English football.
This will no doubt come as a blow to Celtic who seemed intent on having Maresca as one of their top choices to take over at the club.

The search for a new boss is certainly looking like it is heading to its conclusion. If the talks with Brendan Rodgers go well in London, Dermot Desmond will likely appoint the Northern Irishman for his second spell at the club.
Whether that choice will be a popular one with the Celtic fans remains to be seen. There is still some bad feeling amongst some regarding the way he left Celtic the first time around although there does seem to be others that will welcome the move.
Will we see the same scenes we witnessed at Celtic Park when Rodgers was appointed back in 2106? That’s anyone’s guess but there is no doubt he is a quality manager and would bring more success to the club if given another opportunity.
