Celtic’s transfer deadline came and passed with a whimper.

The quality that the Celtic first-team squad required was not added as rumour after rumour fell by the wayside on transfer deadline day.

The big number one target Kasper Dolberg’s proposed Celtic move fell through after Ajax nipped in and tempted the player to the Eredivisie.

After that, transfer deadline day limped to its inevitable end with Celtic just adding Sebastian Tounekti to the squad.

So with that in mind, how does Celtic’s first-team squad look now after a transfer deadline that disappointed many Hoops supporters?

Celtic fans were hoping to see at least one striker and two wingers added to the team on transfer deadline day.

As it stands right now, Tounekti is the only addition with hopes now being pinned on Kelechi Iheanacho joining Celtic now that his contract with Sevilla has been terminated.

So here is Celtic’s full first-team squad for the season ahead:

Being left with the guts of a team that struggled to break down a ‘rank’ Rangers side in Sunday’s Glasgow Derby, Celtic supporters will not be happy, neither will Brendan Rodgers, after such a poor transfer window.

What Brendan Rodgers said about adding ‘quality’ to Celtic’s first-team

The Celtic manager was clear. Crystal clear. In fact, Brendan Rodgers couldn’t have been clearer if he’d painted what he needed the board to deliver on the Parkhead trophy cabinet.

The Hoops boss wanted more quality in the final third, instead Rodgers was delivered what looks like a panic buy after Celtic paid over £5m for Tounekti.

Now, he might be a good player. Who knows. But the way the club went about their business has cast a dark cloud over the Tounekti signing now as Celtic supporters wonder just what happened yesterday.

Rodgers’ first interview will be interesting to watch as Celtic fans will be interested to see how he reacts to what has been one of the worst transfer deadline days in recent memory.
