Nicolas Kuhn didn’t have the best of starts to his Celtic career after his £3m move from Rapid Vienna.

Suffering from an illness when he first arrived at Celtic, Kuhn still made an instant impact with a debut goal against Aberdeen in the 1-1 draw up at Pittodrie but since then, his form has been erratic.

However, the German winger still enjoyed a double-winning season at Celtic and whilst that created some good memories for him, there is one ‘special moment’ that stands out for him.

Celtic fans’ Joe Hart celebrations

The retirement of Joe Hart really hit home for the Celtic fans last season as the realisation of losing a top goalkeeper and brilliant person sunk in.

For all his faults, Hart was superb for Celtic in the three seasons he was with the club and it was the send-off the Hoops fans gave Hart that touched Kuhn.

Kuhn said [Celtic TV], “It was unbelievable the celebrations. It was really nice and of course, if you have it once and then you want more of it.

“I was just half a year here so it was nice to have those moments already with the team. Also saying goodbye to Joe was a special moment I think for the whole team.

“He was a really nice guy. We are still in contact, but I think as a group getting closer together, so I think that’s good for the next season as well.”

When asked about the reception Hart got from the fans, Kuhn admitted it would be a dream to have that kind of success at Celtic.

Kuhn continued, “Of course, it will be a dream, I think everyone saw what happened with Joe also so that’s what everyone wants if they retire or leave a club.”

Kuhn will be looking to recapture the late-season form that impressed Brendan Rodgers and propelled Celtic’s success in the league and Scottish Cup.

The German winger showed that with his pace, dribbling and power on the wing, he can be a real force to be reckoned with down the flanks.

Hopefully Kuhn will start the new season how ended the last one and fine some more consistent form to help Rodgers and Celtic defend the title.
