The January transfer window is going to be paramount for Wilfried Nancy and his long-term success at Celtic.
Life hasn’t started the way Celtic’s new manager would have wanted, even though the Hoops picked up their first win under his stewardship against Aberdeen on Sunday.
But with Nancy in the building, one thing he will realise is that Celtic love a comeback story, whether it’s in the dugout or out on the pitch.
Brendan Rodgers returned for a second spell in 2023, and so did the legendary Martin O’Neill for an interim period in October.
Kieran Tierney and Jota have put on the famous green and white colours again, so 67 Hail Hail looked at which former players Celtic could re-sign in 2026.
Should Celtic re-sign Kyogo in January?
Kristoffer Ajer
Kristoffer Ajer left Celtic in 2021, and he was a very solid player during his time at the club after arriving as a teenager during Rodgers’ first spell.
Interestingly enough, Ajer was linked with Celtic in the summer, amid his uncertainty at Brentford when Thomas Frank left to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Given Nancy’s new system and the fact that he requires central defenders, Ajer could be his man, because he has also played in a back three during his career.
You have one Celtic wish that can be granted in 2026. What would it be and why?
Greg Taylor
This is one of the more likely ones to happen, whether it’s in the near future or in a few years to come.
Let’s be honest, Greg Taylor should never have left Celtic in the first place, and now supporters are realising what they are missing after he opted against signing a new deal in the summer.
Yes, Taylor wouldn’t want to leave PAOK any time soon, and he has made a solid start in Greece, but he would be perfect for that left-sided wing-back role in Nancy’s new system.

Hyeongyu Oh
Hyeongyu Oh returned to Glasgow this season when he scored for Genk against Rangers in the Europa League.
The South Korean star never really got going at Celtic, and probably should have been handed more regular starts and minutes than he did.
But, at the age of 24, he seems to have found some life on the pitch in Belgium, including scoring three goals in Europe this term, and ten goals overall.
With Nancy searching for that striker, perhaps the man who could fit that mould is Oh.
