Celtic had 10 players out on loan during the second half of last season.

The likes of Luis Palma, Stephen Welsh and Lenny Agbaire departed in January for Olympiacos, KV Mechelen and Ayr United respectively.

While others such as Gustaf Lagerbielke and Marco Tilio left the Hoops last summer because they were deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers.

So who left on loan during the summer 2025 transfer window? 67 Hail Hail lists every player below and how they are faring at their respective clubs.

Odin Thiago Holm (LAFC)

Odin Thiago Holm was one of only a few Celtic first-team players who did not report back to Lennoxtown for pre-season duty.

That’s because the Norwegian was still out on loan with MLS side Los Angeles FC, and he will be until December this year.

Holm joined LAFC in January 2025, but the 22-year-old has only featured five times for the club so far, largely due to calf and leg injuries.

Maik Nawrocki (Hannover 96)

Celtic fans feel Maik Nawrocki has been treated unfairly at the club. Despite signing for £4.3m in the summer of 2023, he’s played just 18 games.

Rodgers was quite happy to let the Polish defender exit the Hoops on loan to gain regular game time, and he is spending the season with Hannover 96.

Crucially, Hannover 96 have the option to buy Nawrocki permanently at the end of the 2025/26 season. But at the moment, it seems unlikely they will trigger that clause.

That’s because Nawrocki is yet to make his debut for the Germans, having only played in a friendly during the September international break.

He was injured recently with tendonitis, but returned to play 45 minutes for Hannover’s second team on October 18.

Adam Montgomery (Livingston)

Adam Montgomery is a forgotten man at Celtic. The full-back simply cannot break into the first-team and has spent three years constantly out on loan.

Montgomery knows his permanent future lies elsewhere, with his Celtic contract set to expire in 2027.

After playing for Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship last season, Montgomery was signed by Livingston in the summer as they returned to the Scottish Premiership.

So far, he’s started every league game for Livi and scored his first goal for the club during the Premier Sports Cup group stage in July.

Montgomery provided an assist in the 2-1 defeat to Rangers in September, but was subbed off after 66 minutes in a 4-0 loss to Hibs on October 18.

Luis Palma (Lech Poznan)

Luis Palma did not report back to Lennoxtown in the summer after representing Honduras in June at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has never really been a fan of the winger, so the Hoops sanctioned a loan exit to Polish giants Lech Poznan in the summer.

Palma has played mostly as a winger and attacking midfielder, delivering five goal contributions in five league games across August and September.

He was suspended for two Ekstraklasa matches for a poor challenge on an opponent, later apologising to the stricken player on Instagram.

Palma returned from his ban on October 19 against Pogon Szczecin by providing an assist in a 2-2 draw.

Stephen Welsh (Motherwell)

Stephen Welsh has fallen way down the pecking order when it comes to Celtic centre-backs. With the arrival of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, it was clear the Scotsman had to leave.

Welsh enjoyed a spell with KV Mechelen in Belgium last season, and is now plying his trade at Celtic’s Premiership rivals Motherwell.

He’s started every game for the Steelmen bar the match against his parent club Celtic, helping them keep a clean sheet in the Premier Sports Cup victory over Aberdeen recently.
