Celtic are known for leaving it late in the transfer window and they’ve certainly done that now.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are yet to make a signing on deadline day and have only seen Adam Idah and Stephen Welsh depart.

The Hoops tried to bring Kasper Dolberg to Glasgow, however, Ajax won the race for Dolberg and there is still no sign of Sebastian Tounekti, despite the Hammarby winger flying into Glasgow to finalise a transfer.

Time is ticking at Celtic Park and a late bid has been lodged for someone the Hoops manager knows very well.

Celtic make bid for Kelechi Iheanacho

According to Sky Sports, Celtic have made a very late bid for Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigerian forward is out of favour at Sevilla and the Hoops are working frantically to get the 28-year-old signed and sealed before the deadline.

Iheanacho was a target for Celtic in January but he ended up joining Middlesbrough instead.

In a new update, Sevilla have cancelled Iheanacho’s contract which means that the Hoops no longer need to sign him before he 11pm deadline.

Kelechi Iheanacho was in the form of his life under Brendan Rodgers

Iheanacho has had an up-and-down career after initially being tipped to become a superstar at Manchester City.

Rodgers knows the forward very well from their time together at Leicester City, where the 28-year-old produced the form of his life.

The Nigeria international was the key in the Foxes’ run to the FA Cup final, which they won for the first time in 2021.

He hasn’t replicated the same form since then, but maybe the Northern Irishman can help him to rediscover his potential.
