It was a move Celtic fans might have hoped for, rather than expected.
But the superstar from Portugal is close to a Parkhead return as Rennes have sanctioned a Jota move this window.
The Ligue 1 club have wanted Kyogo, meanwhile, and the Japanese striker has already travelled to France to make the £10million deal a reality.
Kyogo played his final Celtic match against Young Boys in the Champions League.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed this week that both moves would happen and that Rennes boss Jorge Sampaoli was confident of getting the Kyogo signature before his side face AS Monaco this weekend.

Storm Eowyn has delayed Jota’s Celtic return
Jota moved from Celts to Al-Ittihad for £25m so it represents an incredible piece of business for the Hoops to bring him back for less than half of that fee.
There is, of course, one major issue preventing things from accelerating today in Scotland.
Storm Eowyn has prevented the 25-year-old from travelling to complete any transfer with the wait going on despite Kyogo already being where he needs to be.
Brendan Rodgers, according to reports, wants Celtic to wait until they have successfully agreed terms with Jota before he sanctions Kyogo’s switch officially.
But that could now take a few extra days with the delay preventing any movement.
Who are Celtic’s striker options to replace Kyogo
Rodgers wants two wingers and a striker this window but that will have to be ramped up twofold with the deadline fast approaching as well as having Kyogo’s goals to replace.
One attacker we told you Celtic are interested in is Mathias Kvistgaarden.
The Brondby player has 12 goals in 18 appearances this campaign and has established himself as a wanted man across Europe this term.
It is understood Frankfurt are already in discussions with his club with a view to a move after they sold their star hitman, Omar Marmoush, to Manchester City for close to £60m.
Louie Barry has also been targeted by Celts with a bid allegedly being turfed out by Aston Villa.
