Nicolas Kuhn’s future at Celtic is still up in the air.
There has been a lot of noise around Kuhn, as many Celtic players have returned to pre-season ahead of preparations for the 2025/26 campaign.
Brendan Rodgers needs to steer Celtic through qualifiers if they want to play in the next edition of the Champions League because Scotland’s coefficient has taken a hit.
One team that is guaranteed to be in the hat for the group stages of the Champions League are Newcastle United – added to that, Eddie Howe’s men face Celtic in a pre-season friendly on July 19.
But will Kuhn be playing for Newcastle, given interest from the English Premier League side? Perhaps not, given who else the Magpies are pushing to sign.

Newcastle United willing to pay ‘£50m’ for Anthony Elanga amid interest in Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn
Newcastle have already had a bid of ‘£45 million’ rejected for Anthony Elanga, according to Sky Sports, but they don’t seem to be stopping there.
It has also been reported by The Telegraph that Newcastle are willing to put ‘£50 million’ on the table for the Nottingham Forest winger, and he is open to a transfer.
That’s some serious dough and nearly double what Celtic sold Matt O’Riley for last summer when he joined Brighton for £25 million.
One club out of the Kuhn equation
Given that Newcastle are seemingly putting in bids for Elanga, as well as being willing to pay such ridiculous money for the winger, you can now probably rule them out of the equation to sign Kuhn.
It doesn’t rule out Kuhn leaving, but at least there is hope that the all-action winger stays on board because what he did in the Champions League and during the first half of last season shouldn’t be discounted.
And, whilst fans are delighted that Benjamin Nygren has signed for Celtic, you want the Sweden star to come in and challenge Kuhn rather than replace him because it puts the team in a better position to compete in Europe.
