The very latest Celtic transfer news and rumours on January 20, including updates on Nicolas Kuhn, Alexandro Bernabei and Kyogo Furuhashi.
Newcastle United looking at Nicolas Kuhn
It’s crazy to think that it wasn’t so long ago that Nicolas Kuhn was being questioned by some Celtic fans, but now he is perhaps the first player on the teamsheet.
Kuhn’s rise has been incredible and he is ripping it up on the flanks, which has caught the eye of many Premier League teams, including the likes of Brentford and Fulham.
But Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have joined the party for Kuhn and they have scouted the winger, according to the Chronicle.
Celtic sold Matt O’Riley to Brighton this summer, so that Premier League money is always tempting, but the champions aren’t going to sell any key players midway through a campaign.

Alexandro Bernabei speaks out after Celtic exit
Even though Brendan Rodgers wants action in the January transfer window, it has been fairly quiet this month, as only a few weeks remain before the window slams shut.
But, on Monday, Celtic confirmed the exit of Alexandro Bernabei after he joined Brazil club Internacional permanently.
Bernabei was on-loan at the South American side and he spoke about leaving Glasgow after struggling to make an impact.
“First of all, thank you all very much. I am very happy to be back home,” Bernabei told Internacional’s YouTube channel.
“It tells us the joy I have to be here. Let’s go for a year full of beautiful things and good things. It was a bit of a strange experience because I didn’t know what fate had in store for me but I tried to stay calm that things were going to go wrong. I was always sending messages, asking and that made me very anxious and want to know what was going on.
“The support I received from the good group that exists as a family, the coaching staff, the leaders, I think that they handled themselves and continue to handle themselves in a good way and with me they were all very good and kind. So that always made me feel united as part of the group.”
Celtic have to ‘keep’ Kyogo Furuhashi
Kyogo is a Celtic legend and there has been a lot of talk about his future this month, including the official MLS site claiming that he was joining Atlanta United.
You wonder what is at play here with the Japan star, especially with Rodgers wanting to bring in another striker and Adam Idah struggling.
But Neil McCann has made it clear that Kyogo simply can’t leave and Celtic must ‘keep him’, as he told the Warm-Up.
“From a Celtic point of view, I think they have got to try and keep him. I think he is that good,” said McCann.
“He is phenomenal, in terms of his movement, his impact on games, he brings a different dimension to Celtic and he is a completely different player to Adam Idah.”
