‘Will land tonight’ – Fabrizio Romano shares Celtic transfer target has found his new club

Brendan Rodgers is still searching for more goals in the summer transfer market.

It’s a strange thing to say when Celtic have signed two strikers this summer, and neither of them seems to meet the requirements.

Shin Yamada, at the age of 25, doesn’t have the pedigree, while teenager Callum Osmand is yet to make a senior appearance in his career after arriving from Fulham.

That does not even include the two currently at the club in the Irish duo, Johnny Kenny and Adam Idah.

There were suggestions that Celtic were looking at his fellow countryman, Evan Ferguson, but you can now throw that one out of the window.

Evan Ferguson set for AS Roma move from Brighton

Ferguson made a rapid rise in his career, including scoring a hat-trick as a teenager against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

But progress has stumbled at Brighton in recent years, and now the 20-year-old is heading to AS Roma, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert stated that Ferguson will land in Rome on Sunday evening, ahead of a loan move, with a £34 million ‘buy option.’

‘Evan Ferguson will land in Roma later tonight to sign in as the new AS Roma player from Brighton,’ wrote Romano.

‘Loan deal with €40m buy option clause, confirmed.’

Did Ferguson ‘snub’ Celtic?

It’s not known how serious Celtic were about Ferguson, but that supposed transfer fee on the top of his head was never something the champions of Scotland would have entertained.

But there are reports in the Italian media that Ferguson ‘snubbed’ the chance to move to Celtic, with Football Italia citing Le Gazzetta dello Sport’s print publication.

It was 67 Hail Hail who reported on Celtic’s interest, but nothing more, and there are no suggestions that a bid of any sort or contact was made.

Therefore, it’s just another interested target heading to another club.
