The very latest Celtic transfers news and rumours on deadline day including updates on Kelechi Iheanacho, Mathias Kvistgaarden, loan options and Sondre Orjasaeter.

Iheanacho Celtic loan deal off

Brendan Rodgers wants a striker this month and Kelechi Iheanacho was a loan transfer target from Sevilla having worked with the manager before during their time together at Leicester City.

But 67 Hail Hail understands that deal is now off the table with the Nigerian closing in on a switch to Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship.

That will likely speed up Celtic‘s process to find another hitman with the 28-year-old going elsewhere.

Rodgers wants loan signings

Rodgers landed Adam Idah on loan this time last year and it looks like the Hoops gaffer is interested in making a similar move today, if he can.

Spending big would perhaps not make the most sense with just hours of the window remaining so a short-term movement might work.

The manager has been asked about potential loans and he has insisted that seems the more likely scenario.

“I would think so, I would think so,” the Irishman said when discussing a loan.

“I think that to get the one that we would want for that longer term, if it’s not there, then I don’t want to just bring in anyone just for the sake of it. I’ll always look from within.

“There’s no point in bringing in someone if they’re not the right fit.

“So it might be more down that route, but we’ll wait and see what tomorrow evening brings.”

Kvistgaarden Celtic deal unlikely

As Rodgers alluded to, Celts are not likely to spend £10m on Mathias Kvistgaarden unless he remains at Brondby until the summer when they could still circle back.

67HH understands from sources in Denmark that Kvistgaarden’s club do not expect Celts to return to the table today for their player.

Sondre Orjasaeter state of play

Celtic had a bid for the Norwegian rejected earlier this window.

The Hoops moved in with a £4.4m bid for the Sarpsborg 08 wide player as they looked to add to Jota’s arrival with another winger.

It is understood they have not returned to the table, as yet, for the 21-year-old.

And that would fit into his club’s plans as they do not want to sell.

Sporting director Hampus Andersson said recently when asked for comment by 67HH: “In general, Sondre is and has been a highly valued player for us. Our main goal is to not sell him this window and keep him for at least to the end of the season.”
