Hyeongyu Oh was certainly a kind of cult-like figure at Celtic.
Despite playing second-fiddle to Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi over much of his time at Parkhead, Oh still had an impressive scoring record at the club.
Averaging a goal every 3.9 games despite spending much of his time on the Celtic bench, Oh’s impressive record at Genk has reached new heights last week.
After helping Genk beat Rangers at Ibrox in the Europa League after scoring the winning goal, Oh has now reached hero status amongst the Belgian club’s fans after his recent heroics in the big derby game at the weekend.

Hyeongyu Oh scores in big Belgian derby as ex-Celtic man reaches hero status
Oh took the adulation of the Genk fans on Thursday night after the ex-Celtic man sunk Rangers with a well-taken winner at Ibrox.
And now, just days after that iconic celebration, Oh started Genk’s big derby match away to Sint Truiden where the former Celtic striker tucked away a 95th-minute winner to take all three points.
Oh took in the adulation of the travelling Genk support as he celebrated in front of a packed stand in superb scenes recorded below:
Hyeongyu Oh’s scoring record at Celtic compared to KRC Genk
Oh has been a revelation since joining Genk last summer. So impressive has the South Korean form been, the former Celtic man was on the verge of a £24m move to VfB Stuttgart.
Unfortunately, that move broke down and it cost Celtic £4m, but if Oh continues this impressive scoring streak, it won’t be long until more suitors come calling.
| Hyeongyu Oh | Played | Goals | Assits | Goals per game |
| Celtic | 47 | 12 | 0 | 1 : 3.9 |
| KRC Genk | 52 | 16 | 4 | 1 : 3.2 |
Whilst Celtic fans were split on Oh becoming an effective striker at Parkhead, there is no doubt the 24-year-old forward has found a home at Genk.
