Cagliari defender Adam Obert has admitted that he has no regrets over turning down a move to Celtic in the summer.
Celtic had a bid rejected for Obert as Brendan Rodgers tried to find a centre-back to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers.
In the end, it has proved to be fine, as Liam Scales has impressed for the Hoops, while there are still three extra backup options.
Obert is still at the Serie A side and the Slovakia international has been playing regularly for the club since the window closed.
Adam Obert only wanted to stay at Cagliari
Some may think that Celtic dodged a bullet after Cagliari fans tore into Obert, but the 23-year-old is still contributing to the team.
He admitted that there were several clubs interested in his signature, but remaining in Italy was the only option for him.

“Four years ago, I made the decision to move to Cagliari with full knowledge of the facts. Three other clubs were interested in me, but the club’s desire to have me convinced me to sign for this club,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“I feel at home in this beautiful city. Our fans are amazing, and I feel very connected to this place now that I’m in my fifth year.”
Celtic shouldn’t be going for a centre-back in January
Extra bodies are needed at Parkhead, but signing a centre-back shouldn’t be on the list.
Even if Jahmai Simpson-Pusey returns to Manchester City because of a lack of game time, Auston Trusty and Dane Murray are still around.
Stephen McGowan was shocked that a right winger did not join Celtic, but there is every chance that Rodgers may go in pursuit of one this summer.
Next summer may be when a central defender joins; however, it isn’t a short-term priority for now.
