The January transfer deadline is looming for Celtic as they have just hours to get their business completed for the month.
Nicolas Kuhn remains the only arrival after his £3m switch from Rapid Vienna but Adam Idah is close to making a loan move from Norwich City tonight.
From an outgoing point of view, Celtic could be busy on that front this evening. The club have already sanctioned the loan exit of Marco Tilio to Melbourne City today, while Mikey Johnston and David Turnbull are reportedly undergoing medicals ahead of moving to West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City respectively.
James Forrest has also been linked with a shock exit but it won’t be to the aforementioned Welsh giants according to a report published by The Scottish Sun.
Gustaf Lagerbielke is another who could be saying his goodbyes to teammates but a loan exit does now look extremely unlikely given Cameron Carter-Vickers’ recent injury setback.
Benjamin Siegrist transfer latest
News surrounding the future of Benjamin Siegrist had gone stale for a few weeks after Football Scotland reported his possible move to Sturm Graz had collapsed.
However, the same outlet have issued a fresh update on his situation. Journalist Mark Hendry claims Celtic have now opted to keep the goalkeeper at the club for the rest of the season.
That’s because ‘no suitable parties’ have lodged enquiries over securing the services of the former Dundee United stopper since the Sturm Graz interest.
It means any potential last-minute exit for Siegrist on transfer deadline day looks unlikely and you’d think that will come as a huge frustration for the Swiss.
He has made just one matchday squad for Celtic this season [Transfermarkt] and hasn’t played a competitive game for the Hoops since October 2022 against Motherwell, as per Fitbastats.
Joe Hart is the preferred choice between the sticks for Brendan Rodgers and Scott Bain is behind him as No2. Siegrist has been restricted to watching from the stands for far too long now and it is disappointing to hear that he won’t be leaving Celtic before the window shuts later on.
He is clearly of no use to Celtic so fans will likely have to wait until the summer before they see Siegrist depart Glasgow for another club.
