The very latest Celtic transfers news and rumours on January 25 including updates on Mathias Kvistgaarden, Louie Barry, Kyogo, Jota and Alex Valle.

Cryptic Alex Valle Celtic update

Alex Valle was said to be on the verge of a Como move under Cesc Fabregas in Serie A this month.

Of course that all depended on Kieran Tierney’s return to Celtic with a pre-contract on the table for the Arsenal left-back.

Celts would likely want KT in this month but that may not be financially doable in line with what the Gunners want.

That, then, makes Como’s move for Barcelona loanee Valle a smidge more difficult and now boss Fabregas has dropped a mysterious update about the defender.

He said: “Until we are sure we can’t say anything. Things can get complicated.”

Kvistgaarden addresses Celtic interest

Mathias Kvistgaarden has been watched by Celts this season and Brondby want around £13.5million for his services.

That would be a record fee for the Hoops who have already broken their own record twice this season in firstly Adam Idah and then on Arne Engels.

The Dane was asked this week directly about interest from the Scottish Premiership leaders and he was coy in terms of specifics.

But he did say: “In the end, as a player, I can’t really do anything except do the best I possibly can – whether it’s for one place or another. That’s the way it is.”

Louie Barry Celtic roadblock

It’s only a few days since Barry was linked to Celtic but it may be time for Brendan Rodgers‘ side to give up on the Aston Villa man.

A reported £5m bid was booted into touch earlier in the window and now manager Unai Emery has revealed his plans for the former Stockport loanee.

The Spaniard said: “We are very happy with Barry.

“We have one plan with him and that is to extend his contract because we believe in him and then he must continue his process as a player.

“It is to go on loan and continue getting minutes, getting confidence and getting his success playing at another club. How we worked with him last year and with him now is the right way for him.”

Kuhn thanks Kyogo

Kyogo is on his way to Rennes in a £10m deal having travelled to France with Jota on his way back to Glasgow in the other direction.

Nicolas Kuhn has developed a strong bond with the Japanese but acknowledges that if the striker feels it’s his time to leave, then so be it.

But the German did thank his pal and reveal he and the squad will miss him as well as his goals.

“We’re really going to miss Kyogo, not just on the pitch but off the pitch too,” Kuhn said.

“He’s a great player but also just a really nice guy, he always has a smile on his face, but that’s football. We’ll keep going. We know that there can be a lot of changes throughout a season.

“For instance, we had Adam coming in during January last year, so that’s all part of it, and whatever happens I think we will come out stronger as a group.”

Ex-Chelsea man Abraham mooted

Andy Walker reckons a ‘big name’ loan signing could arrive at Parkhead before the window closes.

And the ex-Celt was asked about Roma’s Tammy Abraham as an option.

For Walker, there would certainly be worse alternatives out there than a proven Chelsea and Serie A goal scorer.

Walker when asked said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic brought in a big name player on loan – someone that we are all familiar with.

“Someone who has a good reputation, a good pedigree.

“Whether it’s for the long-term that remains to be seen.”
