Despite Celtic’s need to add new faces to the first-team squad, Brendan Rodgers must also look to get fringe players off the wage bill and some academy players some game time.

We discussed last week that there were three academy youngsters who Brendan Rodgers should look to loan out to aid their development.

The Celtic B team has a lot of quality young players who could be ready to take the step up and getting them out on loan is the best option for them.

And one such player could be set to embark on his third loan spell out of the club as Dunfermline look to raid Celtic’s academy once again.

Tobi Oluwayemi is wanted by the Pars

Ewen Otoo, Ben Summers and Owen Moffat have all enjoyed spells at Dunfermline and whilst Otto remains at the Championship club and Moffat is at Greenock, only Summers remains at the Parkhead club.

But it seems that Tobi Oluwayemi may well end up at East End Park after a report from the Daily Record claimed that James McPake wants him on loan.

Olwayemi has enjoyed loan spells at Cork City and Admira Wacker but injury has interfered on both occasions as the young England U20 international made just two appearances for the Irish side and nine for the Austrian Bundesliga 2 club. [Transfermarkt]

At 21, Oluwayemi needs first-team football and after Rodgers captured Viljami Sinisalo and Kasper Schmeichel this summer and with Scott Bain still on the books, it seems that the young goalkeeper is surplus to requirements for the moment despite being taken on the US Tour this summer.

With just under a year left to run on his current contract, now is the time for Oluwayemi to show his quality and hope that injury doesn’t interfere with his quest to play first-team football should a temporary spell at Dunfermline be realised.
