Micah Richards’ giddy reaction to Celtic potential glamour Champions League tie

Celtic seem to have a fan in Micah Richards if his CBS Sports coverage is anything to go by.

The former Manchester City defender has had his say on plenty of Hoops issues in recent months and he usually has a smile on his face.

Richards was “buzzing” for Celts after they defeated Young Boys with a late Loris Benito own goal and the retired pro was left blown away by Celtic fans during a Glasgow derby against Rangers at Parkhead previously.

The big man has covered plenty of the Scottish Premiership leaders during their heroic Champions League run which has resulted in a knockout playoff spot for Brendan Rodgers‘ troops.

Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher react to Celtic’s possible Champions League opponents

Gary Lineker has also joined Richards in applauding Celtic and they both credited Kasper Schmeichel for heroics against RB Leipzig before the latter was jokingly accused by Dad Peter of mistreating the Hoops goalkeeper back in the day when they were City teammates.

But on Wednesday evening it was presenter Kate Scott and Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher that had Richards’ attention as they, as well as a snippy Thierry Henry, discussed the potential knockout foes Celtic might face.

It will be a glamour tie no matter who the Scottish giants come up against with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich waiting in the wings to discover if they will play at Parkhead or against Manchester City over two-legs.

And that had Richards giddy at the thought of both match-ups that are “tasty” to consider.

“Ohhhhhh…” he chuckled as he watched the screen with all potential fixtures showing.

“What are you so excited about?” Scott questioned as Jamie Carragher chimed in: “Man City!”

Knockout play-off fixture possibilities

Richards predicts ‘problems’ in Celtic or Man City’s coming ties

Richards looked at the full fixture schedule as he laughed excitedly: “Man City or Celtic vs Real Madrid or Bayern…problems!

“But it looks tasty doesn’t it? It looks brilliant.”

Celtic will head into the tie against either side knowing they can compete after their pulsating clash with Aston Villa.

It may have ended for Celts in a 4-2 defeat but they silenced critics including big-mouth duo Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara.

The English media also reacted and claimed they had “made a mockery” of their naysayers.
